Our Story
At Westminster Presbyterian Church, we believe that sharing a meal is about far more than food — it is about dignity, community, hospitality, and the love of Christ lived out together. Since January 2023, Bus Fare has opened its doors every Saturday morning as a collaborative outreach ministry serving our neighbors experiencing food insecurity, homelessness, hardship, and isolation throughout the Rome and Floyd County community.
"Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
Every week, volunteers from Westminster Presbyterian Church and our partner organizations gather at 1941 Shorter Avenue to prepare and serve a free hot lunch. Doors open at 10:00 AM and the meal is served at noon. In addition to food, guests have access to showers, laundry tokens, clothing distribution (every other Saturday), and most importantly — a welcoming community where they are known by name.
Bus Fare is made possible through the generosity and partnership of multiple organizations in the Rome community. What began as a simple collaboration has grown into a beautiful example of churches, nonprofits, volunteers, and community members working together to care for one another.
